Man vs Machine – And the Machine wins but just barely!!

At high noon on Saturday February 1st, we had our Man vs Machine Fundraiser for emergency heating and weatherization of homes.  Bootie Cothran, all 120 pounds, went head-to-head with Ricky Power (220lbs), Eric Coleman (320 lbs) and Reggie Cartee (180lbs) and their 20-ton hydraulic log-splitter, to see who could split the most wood in 30 minutes.  All were amazed by Bootie’s ability to use only a maul and sledge-hammer and initially outpace a 20-ton hydraulic log-splitter.  However, in the last 5 minutes or so, the log-splitter pulled ahead.  Overall we have raised over $1300 with a few more donations still trickling in.  Thanks to all that participated and attended!!  Also thanks to First Baptist Church of Greenville for hosting, and the GO Church and Nicholtown Missionary Baptist for providing the wonderful food.  Also thanks to the Clemson MBA program for manning the donation table.  We had such a great time, we may need to make it an annual event.  I think I heard Bootie calling for a rematch!!
